Duplicate visible names do not always mean duplicate streams. Regional editions, delayed channels, alternate languages and different resolutions can share a familiar label. Compare the source address and relevant metadata before deleting entries from a personal list, and keep the original so the change is reversible.
Define what counts as a duplicate
An exact repeated metadata-and-URL pair is different from two entries that only share a name. Decide whether you are removing literal repetitions or simplifying household browsing. Those goals lead to different choices.
Use distinguishing labels
A local name can include a region or language when that distinction is real. Avoid adding unsupported quality labels. If you cannot identify why two entries differ, move them to a temporary comparison group rather than deleting one immediately.
Protect private addresses during comparison
Spreadsheet imports and online deduplication tools can copy full credential-bearing URLs into places you did not intend. A local text comparison is often sufficient. Redact account values before sending examples to support.
A practical sequence
- Back up the original privately.
- Compare complete entries rather than names alone.
- Keep distinct editions and remove only confirmed repetitions.
An example
Two entries called City News may carry East and West schedules. Removing one merely because the labels match can remove the edition your household uses.
Questions about this topic

No. Different editions can share brand artwork.
Can I undo a mistaken deletion?
