The practical answer

Understand it. Then take the next step.

Moving the same streaming box to another TV normally preserves the applications and account data stored on the box. You still need power, a suitable HDMI input and network access at the new location. The display may negotiate a different resolution or audio format, so review output settings if the picture or sound changes. Treat the move as reconnecting one configured computer to a different display. If a login screen appears afterward, first verify that you opened the player on the moved box rather than the new television's built-in app.

Move the actual player device

The TV’s built-in applications are separate from those installed on an HDMI box. Moving only an HDMI cable does not transfer a TV’s internal player configuration. Before disconnecting anything, note which remote opens the working player and which HDMI input shows it. Move the box, its power supply and any essential local storage together. A USB drive holding a referenced playlist or recordings may remain part of the setup even though the account itself is stored on the box's internal storage.

Reconnect the essentials

Use the box’s intended power supply and select the correct HDMI input. If the new room has a different network, connect it through the box’s settings before judging the player login. Select the new HDMI input and confirm the box reaches its own home screen. If using Wi-Fi, check the network connection before entering credentials again; a lack of connectivity can look like a player loading failure. Use the intended adapter rather than assuming a USB socket on the new television provides suitable power for the streaming device.

Review display-specific behaviour

A new television or sound system can support different formats. Start with automatic output selection and consult the device’s supported options if the new combination has a problem. The HDMI connection negotiates capabilities with the connected display and audio path. If there is no sound or an unstable picture, compare the box's supported output settings with the television or receiver's inputs. Change one output option at a time. The retained provider account does not determine whether the new display accepts a chosen video or audio format.

A practical sequence

  1. Power down and move the same streaming box.
  2. Reconnect power, HDMI and the intended network.
  3. Review picture and audio output on the new display.

An example

A box moved from a 1080p bedroom TV to a 4K living-room TV can retain its player configuration while changing its available display modes. Open the player from the box's own launcher after selecting the new HDMI input. If picture or audio changes, investigate output negotiation before rebuilding the already stored source configuration.

No. Those remain stored on the original television.

Will moving the box increase the provider’s connection allowance?
