Smarters Pro describes playback of personally owned media from supported local and remote sources. A local file that plays successfully can help establish part of the app’s playback path, but it does not prove that a separate provider endpoint is reachable or authorised. Keep those tests distinct.
Choose a legitimate local sample
Use a small file you own or have permission to use. Grant only the file access needed by the application and avoid indexing private folders unnecessarily.
Compare the relevant stage
A local file bypasses provider login and internet delivery. Its success narrows some possibilities without testing every part of a remote-source workflow.
Report the difference accurately
Say that local playback works while the remote source fails, rather than claiming the whole app or provider has been proven healthy. Include the remote failure stage without exposing credentials.
A practical sequence
- Open a supported authorised local sample.
- Compare its behaviour with the affected remote source.
- Report which stages differ rather than treating the tests as equivalent.
An example
A local video playing smoothly does not rule out a rejected provider login because the local test never contacted that provider.
Questions about this topic
Does local playback test provider authentication?
No. It bypasses that stage.
Does the player provide the local media itself?
No. The user supplies the legitimate media source.
